Amphenol PCD Shenzhen product spotlight – EXCEL | MATE MSD – Manual Service Disconnects
March 30, 2021
Amphenol PCD Shenzhen MSD, also known as Manual Service Disconnects, offer safe, reliable solutions for servicing HEV and high voltage systems.
These safety devices used within a high voltage battery pack assembly are called MSD or manual service disconnect. These devices provide a safe method for breaking the electrical continuity inside the battery pack for the purpose of vehicle service or service to high voltage systems. The MSD is a touch safe, removable enclosure containing the fuse. Removal of the MSD is useful for servicing the high voltage system of the vehicle battery pack because the positive and negative connections to the pack are no longer electrically connected. The MSD is not designed for removal while there is current flowing through the battery pack; the contactors still must be opened prior to MSD removal.
Amphenol PCD Shenzhen’s MSD products are equipped with a two-stage lever to open the HVIL circuit prior to the separation of HV contacts, offering a leading tool-free solution for disconnecting the internal high voltage battery pack and providing protection from short circuit. All HV conductive contact surfaces on the receptacle assembly are finger-touch safe further promoting safety to end user during service procedures. An available dust cap is ready for the provision of keeping contacts protected during service disassembly of MSD.
Available in a scalable design and a variety of fuse ratings, these MSD products from Amphenol PCD Shenzhen can greatly benefit your design with its versatility.
With many available product series; MSD, MSD-V, MSD-XL, MSD-MINI, MSD-MINI V, spanning many fuse specifications and current ratings, Amphenol PCD Shenzhen has a product to offer in your design.
The Amphenol PCD Shenzhen MINI manual service disconnect series, MSD-MINI and MSD-MINI V, have also been developed from the standard MSD. Smaller in size and lower in cost, it offers a more compact solution in a scalable design with a variety of fuse ratings.
